The Management of Ambulatory Injectable Drugs

While the Pharmacy Profession has grown well beyond the "counting, pouring, licking and sticking" template, much work remains to be done in the Ambulatory or Outpatient setting, particularly as it pertains to effectively managing injectable drug therapy. Pharmacists and pharmacy managers need to develop skills to optimize the "clinical-financial" interface as described in this important new video, the latest in the Current Concepts in Pharmacy Management series. This video presentation will describe the myriad factors influencing ambulatory injectable drug reimbursement, reimbursement that is critical to the ongoing success of outpatient programs. Since ambulatory programs are expected to grow in the coming years as new, costly injectable drug therapies are developed for chronic diseases, it is imperative that pharmacy professionals assume a leadership position in the effective management of these programs.
